Prerequisites
- Root user privileges are required to install this hotfix.
Post requisites
- A full backup is required after installing this hotfix.
Issue(s) resolved
- During backups, Symantec System Recovery Linux adds a disk signature in 4 bytes from offset 440 (0x1B8) on logical volumes of LVM. (TECH197041)
- Symantec System Recovery adds a disk signature on disks that have no disk signature on Windows systems. (TECH198699)
Installation Guide
This hotfix can be applied on SSRL version 2.0.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2 or 2.0.3 or can be installed freshly.
Installation procedure for standalone machine:
1. Download SSRL_203_Hotfix1.zip.
2. Extract SSRL_203_Hotfix1.zip.
3. Copy Symantec_System_Recovery.bin to the server.
4. Execute the following command.
chmod 711 ./Symantec_System_Recovery.bin.
5. Execute the following command.
./Symantec_System_Recovery.bin
6. Reboot the server.
Installation procedure for a managed machine:
1. Go to a client machine and apply the hotfix manually as mentioned above.
2. Reboot the server.
Uninstalling this hotfix
1. Execute the following command.
symsr-uninstall
2. Reboot the server.
Known issue
Disk signatures which were modified already will not be reverted back.
