ITMS 7.1.2 MP1 - VMM Inventory is failing.

Issue



 VMM Inverntory task fails without clear reason. Task status is 'failed' within a second after start time.

Cause



ESX server resource may have a parent resource. Currently, any parent is treated as vCenter where ESX server is intergrated and task is sent to the parent resource.

In case if it is not a vCenter but some other resource type without IP Address (e.g Dell chassis) the task will fail.


Solution



Attached SQL script to update stored procedures. New stored procedures return only vCenter parent. In case if there is no vCenter resource is considered as an independent ESX Server and task sent directly.

1. Download attached file (Alter_SQL_SP2.sql)

2. Execute contents of the files in SQL Management Studio against Symantec_CMDB database (default name)
