Problem
This article contains the WinPE & BartPE files when using Symantec Encryption Desktop in a Windows Preinstallation Environment version 2.0.
Solution
The Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) is widely used by IT professionals in Windows environments for installation tasks, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and recovery.
See the attached Technical Note which provides instructions for creating the following types of WinPE images:
- 32-bit WinPE 1.x
- 32-bit WinPE 2.0
- 64-bit WinPE 2.0
In addition, it includes instructions for integrating the Symantec Drive Encryption driver into:
- IBM Lenovo ThinkPad Rescue and Recovery 3.0 and above
- Microsoft Windows XP Recovery Console
The Technical Note also covers customizing BartPE or BartPE-based tools.
Note that support for 64-bit WinPE was first introduced with Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.
