Backup Exec Remote Agent on media server crashes with Hotfix 195395 when backing up VMware guest machine

Problem



The Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems service (beremote.exe) on a media server intermittently crashes on ntdll.dll, vmwaretools.dll or BEXML.dll after applying Hotfix 195395 when backing up a VMware guest machine. The following error is reported in an application event log when the process crashes.

Solution



Restart the Backup Exec Services on the media server
