"Windows ERROR:5; Access is denied" error while collecting from a network share in Clearwell

Issue



During a Clearwell (CW) network share collection a "Windows ERROR:5"; Access is denied" error is presented  


Error



"Windows ERROR:5; Access is denied"


Cause



 The Clearwell source account used to access the share lacks proper permissions to the network share location


Solution



  • Verify NTFS / permissions for the source account have read and write permissions on the network share directory
  • Verify the system time on the Clearwell appliance and the network share server is not more than 10 seconds apart
    • Note: This will involve syncing the clearwell server and/or network file server with the official domain time
