Problem
Adding a Vcenter server having multiple datacenters times out with the error "The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply"
Error
The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:09:xx:xxxxxxx. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout.
Environment
The Vcenter server is having multiple datacenters and these datacenter are in various remote sites across the WAN link. When adding the Vcenter resource container in Backup Exec, it hangs on adding the resource container and then times out after 10 minutes with the following error.
"The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:09:xx:xxxxxxx. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout."
The virtual machine backup runs successfully from ESXi host.
Solution
Workaround:
Add the ESXi host and backup the virtual machines from the ESXi host.
