Modified time for emails listed in Backup Exec GRT restore window does not match with the time for those emails in outlook

Backup Exec GRT restore view shows Modified Time column for emails which shows the modified time of the respective emails. This time does not match with the time shown against those emails in Outlook.


Cause



Outlook shows received time of the email and not the modified time. Modified time of the email will not be same as received time of the email. Modified time changes when one of the following action is performed on the email:

Forwarding
Replying
Replying to All
Editing and Saving
Moving or Copying


Solution



Enable Modified Time Column in Outlook and compare the modified time shown against the email with modified time listed in Backup Exec GRT restore view.

To enable modified time column in outlook follow the steps provided below.

For Outlook 2007: 

  • On the View menu, point to Current View and click Customize Current View.
  • Click Fields and in the "Select available fields from" list, click "All Mail fields."
  • Under Available Fields, click Modified, and then click Add to place the Modified field in the "Show these fields in this order" list.
  • Click Move Up or Move Down to position the Modified field and click OK and OK.

For Outlook 2010:

  • On the View menu, click on View Settings.
  • Click Columns and in the "Select available Columns from" list, click "All Mail fields."
  • Under Available Fields, click Modified, and then click Add to place the Modified field in the "Show these fields in this order" list.
  • Click Move Up or Move Down to position the Modified field and click OK and OK.
