Question:
How to perform an offline installation of Symantec (TM) System Recovery 2013 Management Solution (SSR-MS) on a computer without an internet connection?

Answer:
To perform an offline installation of SSR-MS, you must create Symantec (TM) Installation Manager (SIM) installation package for Symantec (TM) Management Platform (SMP) and SSR-MS products. You can then copy it to the computer without an internet connection and perform an offline installation of SSR-MS.

To create a SIM installation package for SSR-MS:

  1. Install SIM on a computer that is connected to the internet.
You can use this installation of SIM to create the SSR-MS installation package.
  2. After SIM installation, start SIM and then click Create Installation Package.
  3. On the Products panel, select the SSR-MS 2013 products, Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2, and Symantec Management Platform 7.0 MR4.
Note: If the above mentioned versions of the products are not listed, select Show all available versions check box.
  4. If required, change the Output location to specify where you want to create the installation package file and then click Next.
  5. On the End User License Agreement panel, check I accept the terms in the license agreements, and click Next.
  6. On the Contact Information panel, enter the contact details and then click Next.
  7. On the Review Package Details panel, review the products that are included in the package and then click Begin Build.
  8. After the build is completed successfully, the SSR-MS installation package file is created in the output location that you selected on the Products panel.
You can now copy the installation package to the computer without an internet and use it to perform an offline installation of SSR-MS.

To perform an offline installation of SSR-MS:

  1. Copy the SSR-MS installation package file to the computer (without internet connection) on which you want to install SSR-MS.
  2. Double-click the installation package file (self extractor exe).
All the files in the installation package are extracted on the computer and SIM is installed.
  3. Start SIM and click Install new products.
  4. On the Install New Products panel, select SSR-MS 2013 products and SMP 7.1 SP2 for 64-bit computers or 7.0 MR4 for 32-bit computers.
  5. Click Next.
  6. (Optional) On the Optional Installations panel, choose to install documentation, language packs, or migration components and then click Next.
  7. On the Install Location panel, select the drive on which you want to install SSRMS and then click Next.
  8. On the End User License Agreement panel, check I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.
  9. On the Contact Information panel, enter the contact details and then click Next. The SIM runs install readiness check to determine if your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
  10. On the Install Readiness Check panel, click Next.
Note: In typical cases, an error with a red cross mark is seen and the Next button is disabled. In such situations, please read out the error details, fix the error manually, and then click on Check install readiness again to have SIM verify the fixes and automatically enable the Next button.
  11. On the Notification Server Configuration panel, enter the appropriate information, and then click Next.
Note: Select the Require HTTPS to access the management platform option must be selected only if you want to access the management platform using HTTPS protocol.
  12. On the Database Configuration panel, enter the appropriate information, and then click Next.
  13. On the Review Installation Details panel, review the installation information, and then click Begin install.
