Unable to restore files from backup set if there are two folders with the same name at the same directory level.

Problem



Example:

A directoy /Folder has two subfolders in it called TEST and test.

Both the above mentioned folder names are same but they are different for the operating system due to the case they are created in. Backing up /Folder directory will work fine but restore of files from the same name folder will not work.


Environment



This issue can occur with backup sets of Operating System that allow two same name folders to be created at the same directory level.


Solution



Symantec Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned at the end of this article. Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers.
 
This issue is currently under investigation by Symantec Corporation. Pending the outcome of the investigation, this issue may be resolved by way of a patch or hotfix in current or future revisions of the software.
