GRT restore from second VMDK fails with error "0xe0009744 - At least one directory in the backup set contains items that are not supported by Granular Recovery Technology (GRT)."

Issue



GRT restore of any file from second VMDK fails with the following error whereas GRT restore from first VMDK works fine for the same VM. 


Error



Job log shows the following error: 

 Final error: 0xe0009744 - At least one directory in the backup set contains 
items that are not supported by Granular Recovery Technology (GRT). Granular 
restores cannot be performed for these items. 
Final error category: Resource Errors

Environment



Backup Exec 2012 with SP1a

ESX 5.0.


Solution



Workaround:

1) Perform a Remote agent backup of Virtual machine

2) Restore the complete VMDK to different location
