Technical Solution


If during package downloading some interruption occurs(like PS goes down), then whole smf job will be failed, however agent will still(in background) try to download package.
By default  Package Delivery will continue attempting to download a package for 2 weeks.

If package delivery still attempts to download package we shouldn't fail whole job, but some status should retrying to download or  whatever should be shown.
Only when package_max_total_tries_time expires then whole job can be considered as failed.

Known Issue.


This issue has been reported to the Symantec Development team. A fix has been provided with ITMS 7.1 SP2 MP1 Rollup v3. See HOWTO81832

The fix includes the following behavior:
In case package downloading failure, Download package task will be in progress and agent will try to download package according to client.conf settings.

If there are several PSs and downloding failure occured, then agent will try to download from every PS one after another(that are in codebases) and if no one is available then will try to download it later(according to client.conf settings)

Whole smf job will be failed in case attempting to download package exceeds package_max_total_tries_time value.
