Issue

Backups to a deduplication storage folder may be queued longer than normal after hot fix 201596.

Error

Snippet from SGMON debug log shows:

PVLSVR:    [9664]     DeviceIoScsiLibrary::GetOstImageCount

            Library = {D8EECE1C-F9DE-47A9-AC9C-5F5802D100F6}, "<MediaServerName>-dedupdisk"

            Slot = 0588

            ERROR = 0xE0008212 (E_CHG_INVALID_ELEMENT_ADDRESS)

Cause

This issue is caused due to media records in the BEDB database for which there are no correspoinding media files on disk. The lastused  value shown in above log snippet is the current max slot of the Deduplication folder. This log shows it was 212 in hex (530 decimal). The job is trying to mount a media from slot 588 which is beyond the max slot and causing this issue.

Solution

Delete the media records from database which do not have a corresponding media file.

NOTE:
Customers experiencing this issue are encouraged to contact Symantec Technical Support as solution suggested requires modifying BEDB database.
