If the MSDP queue size becomes extremely large, the NetBackup Appliance 2.5.2 Web UI may fail to show hardware information.

The NetBackup Appliance 2.5.2 Web UI will fail to show hardware information if the MSDP (media server deduplication pool) queue size grows larger than 2,147,483,647.


Error



Error seen in the Web UI when viewing Monitor > Hardware:

Unable to retrieve the hardware health information. For troubleshooting details check the Help.


Environment



This issue only affects NetBackup 52x0 Appliances version 2.5.2.

To determine if affected, run the following command:

Run the following command to check the queue size:
# /usr/openv/pdde/pdcr/bin/crcontrol --queueinfo

Outputs will look like:
total queue size : ########
If the queue size is greater than 2147483647, the Hardware Monitor may be failing.


Solution



Symantec Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue (Etrack 3126294) is present in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers.  This issue was scheduled to be addressed in the following release:

  • NetBackup Appliances 2.5 Release Update 3 (2.5.3)

Workaround:
To resolve this issue, the queue size will need to drop below 2147483648.  To manually process the queue, execute the following command:
# /usr/openv/pdde/pdcr/bin/crcontrol --processqueue

It maybe necessary to process the queue twice.
