bpfis.exe generates an application fault on a multistream job to an Amazon Cloud storage unit

This issue has been observed when a multistreamed job runs to an Amazon Cloud storage unit when the Client Machine is a virtual host running within Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.

Cause



In this scenario, the device provider did not properly handle the combination of parameters associated with this particular job.  This results in bpfis.exe terminating with an Application Fault.


Solution



The formal resolution for this issue (Etrack 3118276) is included in the following release:

  • NetBackup 7.5 Maintenance Update 6 (7.5.0.6)

Workaround:
If you are encountering this issue, please contact Symantec Support, referencing this document and Etrack 3118240 to obtain an Emergency Engineering Binary (EEB) bundle for NetBackup 7.5.0.5 containing a fix for this issue.
