GRT Restore of Sharepoint List Items corrupts data in Calculated Field

Issue



Using Backup Exec 2010 R3, GRT restores of Sharepoint 2010 List Items that have a Calculated Field column defined, will leave corrupted data in that field and the Item Properties will show no information. The Calculated Field data will appear correct, except for the 1st character which will be replaced by a random ASCII character. This occurs regardless whether the field is defined to combine text or numeric data.

The same backup data has been successfully restored when using Backup Exec 2012.

 


Solution



Workaround:
Redirect restore the ContentDB containing that list, to a separate SQL server or another Sharepoint Farm, to extract the necessary data.
