Within the Backup and Restore section of the Backup Exec 2012 Administration Console, it should be possible to sort the list of servers by click on the column heading that is entitles with the word "Server" Symantec have received reports that some (but not all) installations may experience a condition where this sort is not working. Installations experiencing the problem will also not show a sort direction arrow (up or down) next to the word "Server" in the same column heading box.
The issue appear to be caused because we have the ability do a cascaded sort on up to 3 columns in Backup Exec 2012 by using the right click, context menu option. In some instances (for instance having a sort enabled against a column that is hidden) a left click of a column heading still sorts, however because it does not take over the primary sort, the results are misleading, especially as only the primary sort column heading will display the up/down sort order arrow.
A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.
