Issue

When redirecting the restore of an Exchange 2010 Database, the restore may ignore settings and can potentially overwrite the original database. If the database does not get overwritten it may be in a dismounted state after restore.

Environment

Backup Exec 2012

Exchange Agent Option

Cause

Backup Exec may ignore the redirect setting, and then dismount and possibly overwrite the Exchange database. This condition only occurs if the Backup Exec system account password was changed since the initial installation.
