Issue

A new Recovery Point Set backup policy is created and assigned to one or more computers in the Symantec System Recovery Management Solution console. One or more computers do not show the policy successfully assigned when listed and new recovery point set backup policy does not run on client system.

Cause

A Recovery Point Set backup policy assignment was attempted to a client system where a Recovery Point Set backup policy had already been assigned. Although a client system can have multiple Independent backup policies assigned to it at any one time, a client system can only have one Recovery Point Set backup policy. If the computer is added to multiple Recovery Point Set backup policies, only one of these backup policies, typically the first Recovery Point Set backup policy that was assigned, will run as scheduled and be reported.

Solution

Unassign the computer(s) from the old Recovery Point Set backup policy prior to attempting the assignment of the new Recovery Point Set backup policy.

NOTE: Check the Recovery Point Set backup policy for the client systems that were removed before attempting the assignment of the new Recovery Point Set backup policy; depending upon environmental conditions and client check-in intervals it may take time before the client is ready to be assigned to the new Recovery Point Set backup policy.
