Issue

When using the Symantec Recovery Disk (SRD) to perform a backup, instead of being prompted for a license key, an error stating that this server is "not licensed to create a backup".

Error

 Not licensed to create backup

Solution

Create a custom SRD using the Symantec System Recovery Console.  When prompted to specify how licensed features are enabled in custom SRD on the Licensing page, enter the License key so it gets embedded on the new custom SRD.

Boot the machine that is experiencing the error off of the newly created custom SRD to perform the Backup.

Click How to create a custom SRD for more information.
