The backup job fails with "0xe000fe36 - Corrupt data encountered." error due to the V-79-57344-34108 error even if the Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) is disabled. This issue can occur if some volumes on a server to be backed up are mounted or unmounted during a backup job.
Final Error: 0xa000fe36 - Corrupt data encountered.
V-79-57344-34108 - An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes.
The following error would be reported in the System Event Logs:
Log Name: System
Event ID: 16
Task Category: None
The shadow copies of volume X: were aborted because volume Y:, which contains shadow copy storage for this shadow copy, was force dismounted.
This issue can occur due to the following behavior.
1) Backup Exec alway takes a VSS snapshot if the OS of a remote server is Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or later regardless of the "Use Snapshot Technology" checkbox under "Backup Option" -> "Advanced Open File". This is by design.
2) Backup Exec does not specify a snapshot storage and leaves it to the OS setting.
1) Specify the snapshot storage to an appropriate volume using 'Shadow Copies' configuration windows or 'vssadmin add shadowstorage' on a server to be backed up before backup jobs, or
2) Do not mount/unmount any volumes on the server during backup jobs
