Problem
When attempting to access a replicated volume, the error "
Error
"
Solution
Veritas Volume Manager acquires a lock over the volume to
which it replicates. Any attempt to access a replicated volume will result
in the error message shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1
If using Storage Foundation HA for Windows (SFW-HA), you may see an error in the MountV_A.txt file of:
V-16-10051-9010 Cannot access volume %driveletter%:\
Data on a replicated volume can be accessed in three ways. Either:
1. Enable Data Access by right clicking the primary and selecting Enable Data Access
2. Stop replication to the Secondary and remove it from the Replicated Data Set (RDS); or
3. Take a Snap Shot of the replicated volume.
Method 1 is the first thing to check as it is easy to do and should have no adverse impact. Method 2 ceases replication to the Secondary and allows access to the replicated data, while Method 3 allows replication to continue by making a copy of the replicated volume. Refer to the VERITAS Volume Replicator for 3.0 Windows 2000 User's Guide for more information.
