When running a Backup Job, SharePoint Agent resources do not have hardware encryption applied to them. Software encryption is properly applied to these resources when utilized.

When reviewing the job log, 'Encryption Type: None' is reported. (Figure 1)

Figure 1.

When reviewing debug log, 'HARDWARE ENCRYPTION ===> Setting key' is NOT reported as follows.

BENGINE: [09/24/13 19:37:54] [3600] [tpfmt] - End of TF_OpenSet: Ret_val = 0x00000000 Buffs = 2 HiWater = 0
BENGINE: [09/24/13 19:37:54] [3600] [tpfmt] - HARDWARE ENCRYPTION ===> Setting key.
BENGINE: [09/24/13 19:37:54] [3600] [loops] - Informational : BaseBSDProcessor - Using hardware encryption for SET.
BENGINE: [09/24/13 19:37:54] [3600] [tpfmt] - HARDWARE COMPRESSION ===> Setting compression on.

To work around this issue, please use software encryption.

 This issue is not observed in Backup Exec 2012.
