A Backup-to-Disk GRT restore of individual items to the Exchange server or PST fails with "Invalid Physical Volume Library Media Identifier"
 


Error



V-79-57344-33029 - Error - Mount failed.
Invalid Physical Volume Library Media Identifier.
V-79-57344-33029 - Unable to acquire device for the specified pool and media

Backup Exec 2012 SP2

Exchange 2010 SP2

 


Solution



A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.

 

 

Backup Exec 2012 Rev 1798 Hotfix (217347).

 

Workaround:
Restore the entire database and retrieve the individual items using Exchange powershell commands.
