Backups with Granular Restore Technology (GRT) enabled to Backup Exec Deduplication folder will fail with the following error after applying update from TECH210002:



Final error: 0xe0001203 - An error occurred while creating or accessing the directory specified for this operation. Check to make sure that the B2D folder and/or the temporary path specified for this operation are valid.
Final error category: Resource Errors

Backup- Servername
V-79-57344-4611 - An error occurred creating or accessing the directory \\.pdvfs\Servername\2\BEData\STHVMDK specified for this operation. Ensure that the directory is accessible and can be written to.



This issue affects any backups running to a Backup Exec Deduplication folder with GRT enabled, after applying the related update..




There are different workarounds available - please choose the one best suited for your environment:
- Disable GRT for the backups in question
- Run backups with GRT enabled to a Backup To Disk folder or to tape
- Run a Remote Agent backup of the machine instead of a VM backup



This issue is fixed in:
Backup Exec 2010 R3 revision 5204 Service Pack 4
