The UpdateArchiveFolderPath Stored Procedure loops infinitely if 2 Archive Folders incorrectly reference each other

Issue



While processing an Archive (for example during a Mailbox Archiving) the UpdateArchiveFolderPath Stored Procedure (located in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory SQL Database) can enter in an infinite loop while processing an Archive Folder if two folders higher up in the folder hierarchy incorrectly reference each other as being the Parent Folder

The infinite loop situation will result in the Transaction Log of the EnterpriseVaultDirectory Database to fill up quickly.

Cause



This issue has been reported after using the ArchiveFolderFix standalone tool to repair the folder hierarchy of an Exchange Mailbox Archive.
