Backup of Lotus Domino databases residing on a mount point fail with the error  mentioned below

Error

V-79-57344-33976 - Error. Cannot backup directory \Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Domino\Data1\TestMount and its subdirectories.

Cause

Lotus Domino databases that are stored on a mount point volume are currently not supported. The backup job errors out when a mount point volume is part of Lotus Domino backup selections. Backup Exec does not enumerate the mount point volume which is listed under Lotus Domino databases node during browse.

Solution

In order to back up the Lotus Domino databases stored on a mount point volume, use the following two methods.

A. Under Lotus Domino Databases node, select only the folders which contain Domino data that you require to backup. Typically, the Domino data resides under Domino data folders such as Data1 and Data2 shown in the snapshot and it is recommended that you select only data folders for backup. If domino data does not reside under the mount points then deselect all mount points from the backup selections. The mount point volumes are represented by a distinct icon. If you already have a failed backup job, the folders containing mount point volume are reported in the job log.

Note that your NTFS backup selections are not required to be modified.

B. In cases the mount point volume contains Domino databases that are required to be backed up, follow these steps.

Move the domino databases from mount points to a NTFS volume local to the Domino server and then run offline backup of Domino databases.

To run offline backup of Domino databases follow the steps below:
1. Open the Registry Editor on the Domino server and browse to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\Domino

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.

2. Change the dword value for "Enable Offline Backup" from 0 to 1.
3. Close the registry editor.
4. Deselect the Domino databases under the Lotus icon in the backup job.
5. Select the drive location that contains the Domino databases in file selections.
6. Perform file backups of Domino databases by backing up the drive.
