Issue

When a SQL database name includes a back slash (\), the database is grayed out for selection and the back slash (\) is displayed as a underscore (_) instead.

Solution

Currently Backup Exec does not support backing up databases which contain a back slash (\) in its name.

There are other characters which are not supported either - for more details see:  www.symantec.com/docs/TECH196585

Workaround:

  • Backup the database using the build in backup utility in SQL management Studio.
  • Rename the database
