The backup of a Sharepoint 2010 or 2013 environment may fail with the error below if one of the Shared Services Service Applications contains parentheses in its name.  Only the Service Application Proxy will fail with the Service Application database being backed up if configured with one.  Note that in the error message below, the Service Application name contained (2) which seems to cause the attempt to connect to an invalid server by the name in parentheses.

Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0000f04 - The Backup Exec server could not connect to the remote computer.  Ensure that a Backup Exec agent is installed and running on the remote computer.  If a Backup Exec agent is installed, ensure that it is the correct version.
Final error category: Resource Errors

Backup- 2
Remote Agent not detected on 2.
