Issue



HTML emails retrieved by double clicking the shortcut in Outlook are being rendered as plain text emails causing embedded (Inline) images to be displayed as text.

This behavior is seen in Exchange 2013 and is independant of the version of Outlook or Enterprise Vault installed.

Note: Restores (Restore from Vault) of emails are not impacted.


Error



Below is an HTML email prior to being archived by Enterprise Vault.

 

Once the email has been archived and consequently retrieved by double clicking the shortcut.

Note: The email is displayed in Plain Text as opposed to HTML.


Environment



Exchange 2013 RTM, CU1, CU2, CU3
Enterprise Vault 10.0.4 clients

 


Cause



Enterprise Vault 10.0.4 Add-ins (10.0.4 base, 10.0.4.CHF1 and 10.0.4.CHF2) are not able to save certain message body properties correctly from Exchange 2013 mailboxes. 

Exchange 2013 does not correctly save the underlying message body properties from an Exchange store to a disk based store .

Workaround:

Enterprise Vault clients prior to 10.0.4 are not impacted by this issue.

This issue has been resolved in the following release:

Enterprise Vault 11.0.0 Cumulative Hotfix 1
