Duplicate of VMware backups fail with "Unable to determine ADAMM media identification. Catalog query failed."

When attempting to duplicate a VMware backup the job may fail with the below error messages. The duplicate job does process all of the data to the target location and should show a byte count.
Note: Restore selections should be available from the duplicated media
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0009444 - The requested source duplicate backup sets catalog record could not be found. Perhaps the media containing the source backup sets was previously deleted.
Final error category: Job Errors
This issue has been resolved in Backup Exec 2014.
For Backup Exec 2012: This issue is purely cosmetic and restores from duplicates should work without issue. If the issue persists after upgrading to Backup Exec 2014 please contact Symantec Support.
