How to create a Backup Exec diagnostic file (bediag.fax) in Backup Exec for Windows Servers 11d and above
Solution
The output file BEDIAG.fax is a diagnostic file that provides information on SCSI configuration, device drivers, administrative shares, registry settings, file versions, and services.
To create the file, do the following:
1. Start Backup Exec
2. From the Tools menu, select Backup Exec Diagnostics (Figure 1)

3. The Backup Exec Diagnostics dialog box is displayed
4. Click Select Server and select the appropriate server
5. Select Run Diagnostics and the BEDIAG.fax file is displayed for the selected server (Figure 2)

The default location of the BEDIAG.fax file is the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data directory.
