How to set the Backup Exec SAP R/3 Agent into debug mode
Solution
To enable the Backup Exec SAP R/3 Agent to run in debug mode, locate the BIPARAM.INI file in the SAP system files directory which, by default, is: x:\usr\sap\<SID>\sys\exe\run (where x is the drive where the SAP system files are located).
Backup Exec version 10 and earlier versions
Add the line Debug=On at the end of the [General] section of the BIPARAM.INI file (Figure 1).

Backup Exec version 11 and future versions
With Backup Exec version 11 the format of the BIPARAM.INI file changed.
Add the line Debug=On at the end of the [General] section of the BIPARAM.INI file
Backup Exec version 10 and earlier versions
Add the line Debug=On at the end of the [General] section of the BIPARAM.INI file (Figure 1).

[General]
Server=Server Name/ IP Address
Job Name= Any unique job name
Debug=On/Off
[Backup]
Job Template= (Specify the Job Template Name setup in Backup Exec)
Backup Catalog=on
The SAP R/3 Agent will now run in debug mode. Each time _backint.exe is started, a debug.txt log will be created in the same directory x:\usr\sap\<SID>\sys\exe\run (where x is the drive where the SAP system files are located).
