How to create a new removable Backup-to-Disk folder in Backup Exec for Windows Servers.

Solution

A Removable Backup-to-Disk folder exists on a device that has removeable media. Make sure that the device has media placed in it.

Note: If you try to create a Removable Backup-to-Disk folder on unformatted media, it may lead to "Access Denied" error messages. Removable Backup-to-Disk media can be created on Dell RD1000 and all such devices which are listed in Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) of the specific Backup Exec version you are using.

To create a removable Backup-to-Disk folder, do the following:

1. On the navigation bar, click Devices | Right click on the server name | click on New Removable Backup-to-Disk Folders.

2. Select the drive from the Choose Removable device drive box, and then click OK

A new removable Backup-to-Disk folder will be created.

Note: The GUI would look different depending on the version of Backup Exec being used, however the configuration is through same Devices Tab.
