Issue

This Hot-Fix is needed to prevent data corruption under rare circumstances when running v3.0 of VERITAS Storage Migrator (VSM).

Solution

Under certain rare conditions, corruption can occur while moving data under Storage Migrator v3.0.
For more information, refer to TechNote 253015 at:  http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/253015.htm

Expected behavior:

When jobs end in a time window, the following error may be placed in the event viewer:

Program Assert: (!(0 == memcmp( dataStreamSignature.signature,
sigNull.signature, MAX_SIGNATURE_BUFFER_SIZE))) <An unexpected
condition was detected that stopped the current operation.  The event
log may contain additional information.  If the problem persists,
contact Technical Support. (0x8000ffff)>

This is expected behavior and will cause changes to the VSM database to be rolled back and prevent any possibility of software data corruption.

Requirements:

VERITAS Storage Migrator 3.0 SR2

Summary:

This hot-fix will need to be applied to all installations that include the Storage Migrator Media Agent.
