Problem
When attempting a push install of the Remote Agent for Windows Servers in Backup Exec to a workstation or server, the error message ''Attempting to connect to \\Server failed with the following error "The RPC server is unavailable" is returned and the Backup Exec Remote Agent service is not installed.
Error
The RPC service is unavailable
Solution
There are several reasons for this issue:
- The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service on the workstation or on the server fails to connect
- Firewall configuration
- The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is not started
- Unable to resolve a domain name service (DNS) or NetBIOS name
- The Remote Registry service is not started
