Problem
How to identify which version of Veritas Volume Manager for Windows 2000 or Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows has been installed, using the product build number
Solution
The table below provides the build number for most versions of Volume Manager and Storage Foundation for Windows. This includes HotFixes (HF), Service Packs (SP), Rollup Patches (RP) and version provided in the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA). These build numbers are useful in determining what version of the product is installed.
The build number can be found in Help | About on the interface (VEA), or by running the following command from a command prompt: vxassist version

To find the version number in the Storage Foundation 4.x, 5.x and 6.x within VEA, perform the following steps:
1. Click Start | Programs | VERITAS | VERITAS Enterprise Administrator
2. Connect to the desired server
3. Click Help | About to find which build of VEA is installed (Figure 1)
4. Click Help | About Server to find which build of Storage Foundation is installed

To find the version number in the Storage Foundation 4.0 for Windows interface, perform the following:
1. Click Start | Programs | VERITAS | VERITAS Enterprise Administrator
2. Connect to the desired server
3. Click Help | About
4. Check the Storage Foundation version numbers (Figure 2)

To find the version number in the Volume Manager 3.x interface, perform the following:
1. Click Start | Programs | VERITAS Enterprise Administrator
2. Connect to the desired server
3. Click Help | About
4. Check the Volume Manager version number (Figure 3)

To find the version number in the Volume Manager 2.x interface, perform the following:
1. Click Start | Programs | VERITAS Volume Manager 2.X | Volume Manager Console
2. Click Help | About
3. Check the Volume Manager version number (Figure 4)
