Problem
Recommended Qlogic Host Bus Adapter Settings for VERITAS Cluster Server (tm)
Solution
All Qlogic Host Bust Adapters (HBAs), when used with
Cluster Server clustering, should have the following settings in
place:
When using Qlogic series host adapters, such as Qlogic 2200 or 2300, certain settings are required to be configured on the host bus adapters so as to enable successful failover. Please check the following:
1. Press ALT+Q to get to the FAST!Util command panel
2. From the Advanced Adapter Settings menu, press the DOWN ARROW key to select Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs) per target, and then press ENTER. Set the following parameters and values:

a. Enable LIP reset:

c. Enable target reset:

d. Extended error logging:
Disabled (might be enabled for debugging)
Note: The Enable LIP
reset, Enable LIP full login, and Enable target reset
parameters control the behavior of the adapter when Windows 2000 tries to do a
SCSI bus reset. A target reset must be performed to make cluster failovers work.
Use SCSI bus device reset to clear SCSI reservations. The Storage Area Network
(SAN) Data Gateway does not support Loop Initialization Protocol (LIP) reset,
and full login is not necessary after the target reset.

In a SAN configuration, a driver is required to handle Registered State Change Notification (RSCN) efficiently to avoid disruption of I/O because of unnecessary re-logins.
