Unable to create an SOE snapshot on Windows Vista.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install the Wise Package Studio 7.0 SP2 client on Windows Vista
2. Run the SOE Snapshot tool
When the SOE Snapshot tool is done executing, look at the destination location specified. The .SOE was not created.

It takes several hours to scan the entire Vista operating system due to its vast size. Because it takes so long to create the .SOE, at some point Vista sends a time-out message to the active window telling it to cancel. This causes the SOE Snapshot tool, if it the active window, to close without producing an .SOE.


This issue has been fixed for Wise Package Studio 7 SP3.

A hotfix was created for this issue.

If you are on Wise Package Studio 7.0 SP2 perform the following to install the hotfix.

  1. Download the attached hotfix.
  2. Unzip and run WPS_7.0_SP2_Hotfix_1.EXE on the Wise Package Studio server.

This hotfix also needs to be executed on any Wise Package Studio clients that were installed as Local clients.
