Problem

When accessing Security Expressions Server from a Web browser after installation, I receive an HTTP 403 error: "You are not authorized to view this page"

Environment

Windows Server
Security Expressions Server 3.4.1
Internet Information Services (IIS)

Cause

Security Expressions Server requires ASP.NET 1.1, and is incompatible with ASP.NET 2.0.

Solution

If ASP.NET is not installed, install it under Add/Remove Windows Components from Add or Remove Programs. If ASP.NET 2.0 is installed, complete the following steps:

Open "Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager" and expand Web Sites and Default Web Site.
Right-click the "seserver" subfolder and choose Properties.
Access the ASP.NET tab, and choose version "1.1.4322" from the drop-down list.
Then go to Start > Run, enter "iisreset", and click OK.
