Q230001D - Managed objects deleted on servers running Systems Management Server or UnDelete

Solution

On servers running the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 client with component logging enabled, the VERITAS StorageCentral (tm) managed objects may be deleted and no longer appear in the management console. Viewing the contents of the managed object database reveals that the object path is combined with that of the SMS log files.
Example:
SMS is installed on D:\SMS
Managed objects are in D:\HomeDirs\%username%
After managed objects disappear, the managed object database contains records such as "D:\sms\logs\sender.lo_\homedirs\username."
Solution:
This problem occurs when a file on the same volume as the managed objects is renamed on separate threads simultaneously. The StorageCentral driver QAFilter.sys was receiving the second rename incorrectly which resulted in the driver renaming all managed objects on the volume to an invalid path. This has been observed on servers running Microsoft SMS 2.0 or UnDelete 2.0.
The problem is corrected in Q230001D for StorageCentral 5.0.230. A restart is required.
