Hotfix 21: Scheduled snapshots sometimes do not run from remote client computers

Scheduled snapshots sometimes do not run from remote client computers.

Environment



Recovery Solution 6.2.2332

Cause



There is problem with event logger initialization. If client computer scheduling thread fails to perform connect due to Recovery Solution Server connection problems, client computer fails to report the event to the Recovery Solution Server that it is in the snapshot schedule chain.

Solution



Note: This hotfix is a cumulative hotfix for Recovery Solution 6.2.2332 and includes Hotfix 12.

This hotfix is in the form of AeXRSAgt.exe, AeXRSAView.exe, and AgentRes.dll which need to be applied to the client computer with Recovery Agent installed. They are uploaded to Client.zip in attachments:

  1. Stop the Recovery Solution Agent service on the client computer.
  2. Browse to %Program Files%\Altiris\eXpress\Client Recovery Agent folder.
  3. Replace the old AeXRSAgt.exe, AeXRSAView.exe and AgentRes.dll with the new ones uploaded to Client.zip in attachments.
  4. Restart the Recovery Solution Agent service on the client computer.

AeXRSAgt.exe, AeXRSAView.exe, and AgentRes.dll also need to be updated to the Data1.cab. The Data1.cab needs to be updated so that new Recovery Agent installations will have the hotfix. It can be modified using ASPack.exe utility. More about ASPack.exe is available in article 24583.
