How to add VERITAS Volume Manager (tm) 3.1 dynamic multipathing support for HP FCA2214 HBAs

Solution

Support for the HP FCA2214 host bus adaptor (HBA) can be enabled by following the instructions below.

NOTE:These procedures require a system reboot.

Please consult the Microsoft Web site for information on modifying the registry before attempting the following steps. Using the registry editor incorrectly may cause serious problems.

1. Verify that the version of Volume Manager is 3.1 with Hotfix 03d. Refer to the Related Documents section for procedures to determine installed versions.
2. Download and extract the attached file 117003_267275.EXE. Open the folder when prompted.
3. Double click on the file HP23.reg to modify the Registry enabling support for the HP FCA2214 HBA.
4. Reboot the server so that the registry modification takes effect.

Upon successful installation of this registry change, dynamic multipathing (DMP) can be configured for devices on HP FCA2214 HBAs as well as any other supported HP HBA using the driver name starting with "HP23".
