KNOWN ISSUE: Task Server Software Delivery Task does not run, prevents all subsequent tasks from running

Issue



A Software Delivery for Task Server task or job fails if the Package is updated after an initial run. All subsequent tasks fail in Task Server, including non-Software Delivery items.

Cause



The Software Delivery Agent for Task Server initiates a download for the changes, but does not attempt to download the package again, leaving the agent in download in progress state.


Solution



As the work-around allows full functionality, this issue is not currently scheduled to be fixed. To avoid the issue, follow these steps whenever you need to update the package/program/or task:

  1. Add, remove, or change files as necessary in the directory that makes up the Package to be used.
  2. In the Altiris Console  the numeral in the Version field under the Package tab. The default starts at 1.0, and simply change the version by increasing the number.
  3. Click Apply and, when completed, click Update Distribution Points.
  4. Browse to the Task or Job in question in the Altiris Console (Task Server).
  5. Click the Edit button.
  6. Click Apply.

The Software Delivery Task should function properly now.
