Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion." appears on boot up or when attempting to start the Backup Exec Services.

Could not start the Backup Exec Job Engine on Local Computer.
Error 1075 : The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

Could not start the Backup Exec Device and Media service on Local Computer.
Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

 


Cause



The Remote Agent for Windows Servers is one of the dependency services of the Backup Exec Job Engine Service. If, for some reason, there is an issue with the Remote Agent installation, the Job Engine service cannot start.

Reviewing the list of services can assist in determining if the Remote Agent Service/SQL service for Backup Exec is missing.
 
   

Solution



The Remote Agent for Windows Servers must be installed on the media server. 
A repair installation of Backup Exec may resolve this issue (see the Related Documents section of this TechNote for more information on how to run a repair install)
 
After a repair installation is run, the Remote Agent for Windows Servers Service should be installed on the local system (Figure Below)
