Issue

I receive the following SQL error when trying to access the dashboard in Notification Server 6.5 and 6.0 console:

Description: Sql error in query. Error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The error description is 'The following tags were not closed: item, PatchManagementSolutionPolicy, CoreConfig, SWReleasesToExcludeFromSWUpdatesImport.'.System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Could not find prepared statement with handle 0.System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: sp_xml_removedocument: The value supplied for parameter number 1 is invalid.Sql CommandText:

                           -- MAX ROWCOUNT

                           SET ROWCOUNT 50000

Why am I receiving this error?

Solution

The varchar limit within the stored procedure spPMCore_GetExcludedReleases is being reached. Run the attached SQL script to correct the problem.

Note: The script will only work with SQL 2005.

KB46144 "Combined fixes for known Patch Report Discrepencies, Dashboard issues etc" also includes this fix and several more.
