Problem

After clicking the Run Now button in the Wise Integration Component, I receive the following message in my a.log:

Source: Altiris.ProductDelivery.ConnectWise.AeXNSWiseConnectorApp.TestConnection
Description: Could not open the Software Manager database. Verify the Wise Software Repository settings at Configuration\Solutions Settings\Software Management\Wise Integration Component\Wise Software Repository. Error: Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES_INFO" for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "(null)". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used.

Environment

Wise Package Studio 7.0 SP2 using SQL Server 2000 SP3

Notification Server using 64-bit SQL 2005

Cause

This issue occurs when trying to run distributed queries from a 64-bit SQL Server 2005 client to a 32-bit SQL Server 2000 client. For more information, please see Microsoft's KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;906954.

Solution

Manually run the Instcat.sql script that is included with SQL Server 2000 SP3 or SP4 on the 32-bit SQL Server 2000 server
