Problem
The Notification Server logs show the error, "The registry path was bad, Altiris E-mail Event Receiver needs to be re-installed" every 15 minutes, when the scheduled task for "NS.E-mail Event Receiver" runs.
Environment
Notification Server 6.0 SP3
Inventory Solution for RIM 6.1.1091
Cause
The problem occurs because the code is looking in a specific path for an .ini file used by the email event receiver. The path must include "Altiris" with an upper-case 'A'. Installing to any other path will cause this to occur. This error can be duplicated by installing the core Notification Server software to "D:\altiris" (with a lower-case 'a') and subsequently installing the email event receiver in the NS console. It has been confirmed by development that "Altiris" must be in the path and that the 'A' must be capitalized.
Solution
Currently, the only way to get the Email Receiver to work is to uninstall and reinstall Notification Server and the solutions into a folder that contains the name "Altiris".
NOTE: There has been a hotfix released for this error, not released to the general public due to a lack of testing. If you are seeing this error and want to apply the hotfix, please contact Altiris Support, referencing internal KB Article 42540.
