On the first time a given workstation visits the Helpdesk console using Internet Explorer* 7, the user may receive an Information Bar prompt with the following text just below the address bar:

This website wants to run the following add-on: 'Microsoft License Manager DLL' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here...

Additionally, you see the following dialog:

Helpdesk 6.0.297
Internet Explorer 7.0

The vsflexgrid8 ActiveX control that is trying to run depends on the Microsoft License Manager DLL (licmgr.dll), which is not allowed to run by default in Internet Explorer 7, unless the Web site has been added to the Trusted Sites Security Zone.

To avoid having users see this prompt on their first visit to a Helpdesk console, add the Helpdesk URL to the Trusted Sites in IE Security Zones. This can be done manually on a workstation or through a Group Policy.

Otherwise, use the following steps to enable the Microsoft License Manager DLL add-on:

  1. Click the Information Bar, located immediately under the Internet Explorer address bar.
  2. Click Run ActiveX Control.
  3. Click Run.
