How to install the Backup Exec Library Expansion Option

Solution

Robotic Libraries used with Backup Exec (tm) can provide convenient automated support for large capacity network environments. Support for a single robotic library drive is included with Backup Exec for Windows Servers.

To use additional robotic library drives, additional purchases of the optional Backup Exec for Windows Servers Library Expansion Option (LEO) is required. This option allows concurrent processing on multi-drive robotic libraries.

For instance, if there are four drives in the robotic library, three additional Library Expansion Option licenses are required.

Installing the Library Expansion Options (LEO):
  1.  Purchasing an LEO license number for each additional drive is required
  2.  Installing the necessary LEO files
  3.  Configuring the robotic arm and drives
Backup Exec LEO installation will install all necessary robotic library related files, including the software needed to control the robotic arm and storage devices.

To install the LEO option, perform the following on the Backup Exec media server only:

1. Click Tools - Install Options and License Keys  on this Media Server

2. Type the LEO serial number and click Add, or click Import to import the serial number from the existing besernum.xml file, and click Next
