KNOWN ISSUE: Barcoder 6.6 SP2 is unusable on certain handhelds

Technical Solution


When using certain handhelds that have Windows Mobile 5 with the Microsoft Messaging and Security Feature Pack, with Barcode Solution 6.6 SP2, the Barcoder applet installs on the handheld but is unusable when launched.

The Barcoder applet menu links should have images, but instead are blue hyperlinks that do nothing when clicked, below is a screenshot of the issue as it has been observed:

Affected models:

  • Symbol MC7090 - not supported with Barcode 6.6 SP2
    • WM 5.1.476 (Build 15704.3.5.0)
  • Symbol MC7004
    • WM 5.1.478 (Build 15706.3.5.2)
  • Socket SoMo 650-M - not supported with Barcode 6.6 SP2
    • WM 5.1.478 (Build 15706.3.5.2)

This issue is caused an updated webview.dll present in certain OEM ROMs that include the Microsoft Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP).


This issue has been resolved in Barcode 6.7.
